I am a researcher, teacher-trainer and linguist.
My research interests focus on language and education policy, politics, multilingualism, ethnic minority issues, sociolinguistics, identity and nation-building.
I have carried out consultancy work for governments, think tanks and other organisations, with particular focus on the post-Soviet space.
I have also been a teacher for approximately 25 years. I have taught Russian, French, English as a Foreign Language, English for Academic Purposes, Academic Study Skills, Research Methods and Social Sciences. I have also helped people with specific learning difficulties with research projects and reading and writing skills. I have designed course curricula and materials. I have also worked as an examiner for Cambridge ESOL examinations since 2006.
I am a linguist and English is my native language. I am proficient in both Russian and French and I am a translator. I translate from Russian and French into English. My subject specialisms are language and education policy, politics, multilingualism, ethnic minority issues, sociolinguistics, identity and nation-building as well as education curriculum design and educational documentation.
I am also a copywriter, editor and proofreader.
